Applicants must have a GPA minimum of 3.0 at the time of application and must retain a 3.0 minimum GPA by the start of of their abroad program.

Applications for all Travel Awards are due by March 1.

Program Specifics

By completing this application you will be considered for multiple scholarships:

Scholarship

The Belk International Scholar Award and the Anna Holmes Hurley January Term Award are awarded to one or more students pursuing an overseas, Hollins University affiliated, academic program or course during J-term or summer. Based on academic merit with preference given to students with financial need

Thanks to generous donors, Hollins University is grateful to be able to provide travel awards to a number our students undertaking an abroad experience (during the semester, summer or January Term). These funds were gifted to Hollins University with the intention of assisting students that would not otherwise be able to study abroad. Therefore, students with demonstrated need will receive preference for travel awards, but academic merit will also be considered. Due to the donors’ intentions, it is rare that a student would receive funding for multiple abroad experiences.

In order to be eligible for consideration for these travel awards you must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 at the time of application and until the beginning of the semester prior to their study abroad program; agree to communicate with a representative of the fund's donors through the Hollins Development Office upon receipt of the award; and meet with the fund's donors if requested by the Hollins Development Office.

Preference will be given to those applicants with financial need as establish be the Office of Scholarships and Financial Assistance, however all students who meet the aforementioned requirements should apply.

The scholarship committee may interview semi-finalists.

Final recipients will be notified no later than a month prior to the anticipated study abroad date.
