January Term with Spanish Studies Abroad:Seville, Spain
(Outgoing Program)
Each January, Hollins students are offered the option of an intensive 3 1/2-week Spanish language experience at The Center for Cross-Cultural Study in Seville, Spain. This 3 1/2 week term is designed to be taken on its own or as preparation for a spring semester program with Spanish Studies Abroad (SSA).
With its legacy of Spanish and Moorish art and architecture, Seville is one of Spain's most interesting and beautiful cities. The classrooms and administrative offices of the Center for Cross-Cultural Study are in the heart of the city, in two adjacent classical Sevillian mansions with wrought iron balconies, carved wooden doors, and walls lined with hand-painted, antique ceramic tiles.
SSA January term programs feature all-inclusive program-sponsored excursions which may include:
a day trip to Córdoba,
walks to Plaza de España and Maria Luisa Park
visits to the Real Alcazar, Cathedral and Itálica, las Setas
the Museo de Bellas Artes
Academics
Classes meet Monday through Friday for 4 hours per day
Average class size: 10-12
4 semester credits (equivalent to a Hollins J-Term credit)
All courses are taught in Spanish by highly qualified Spanish university professors with extensive experience in teaching American students.

Housing and Meals
Students are housed with a Spanish host family and all meals are provided.
Eligibility
Students accepted to the program must be in good academic and disciplinary standing and have Hollins' approval to participate.
The Seville J-term program is designed for intermediate to advanced Spanish speakers.
3.0 overall GPA
At least 2 semesters of college-level Spanish
Cost
The cost for the program is approximately $4,960 and includes:
tuition and housing
all meals
international health insurance coverage
The program cost does not include transatlantic transportation, or any personal travel or expenses. Hollins students are billed for this program with their spring term bill, which is issued on December 1 and due on January 1.
APPLICATION PROCESS
Students applying to this program must also complete an application with Spanish Studies Abroad. Their application for the Seville J-Term program is due on October 15. Students must first submit a Hollins application before completing the SSA application.
Transatlantic Transportation
Participants make their own round-trip travel arrangements to Seville. You should book a flight that leaves on the afternoon or evening before your date of arrival. As this is a holiday period, we recommend that you book your flight as early as possible.
