Each January, Hollins students are offered the option of an intensive 3 1/2-week Spanish language experience at The Center for Cross-Cultural Study in Seville, Spain. This 3 1/2 week term is designed to be taken on its own or as preparation for a spring semester program with Spanish Studies Abroad (SSA).
With its legacy of Spanish and Moorish art and architecture, Seville is one of Spain's most interesting and beautiful cities. The classrooms and administrative offices of the Center for Cross-Cultural Study are in the heart of the city, in two adjacent classical Sevillian mansions with wrought iron balconies, carved wooden doors, and walls lined with hand-painted, antique ceramic tiles.
Housing and MealsStudents are housed with a Spanish host family and all meals are provided.
Students accepted to the program must be in good academic and disciplinary standing and have Hollins' approval to participate.
The cost for the program is approximately $4,700 and includes:
The program cost does not include transatlantic transportation, or any personal travel or expenses. Hollins students are billed for this program with their spring term bill, which is issued on December 1 and due on January 1.
Students applying to this program must also complete an application with Spanish Studies Abroad. Their application for the Seville J-Term program is due on October 15. Students must first submit a Hollins application before completing the SSA application.
Participants make their own round-trip travel arrangements to Seville. You should book a flight that leaves on the afternoon or evening before your date of arrival. As this is a holiday period, we recommend that you book your flight as early as possible.
